Dave's G
scale railroad features expansive dirt hills and scenery. Inspired by
the La Mesa Model Railroad in San Diego, his Mojave Subdivision is set
in 1994, the final full year of operations under the Southern Pacific
and Santa Fe flags. This year's project has been the construction of a
massive concrete mountain, measuring 55' long, 19' at its widest point,
and over 8' tall. Beneath the mountain are four hidden storage tracks.
Similar storage tracks are located at the west end of the railroad,
just west of Caliente. Expect to see 20+ car trains with helper engines
tackling the grades on the layout. His backyard features a significant
incline, with Caliente sitting 32 real feet—or 928 G scale feet—below
the summit. With a ruling grade of 3%, closely matching the real
Tehachapi 2.2+% grade, the layout brings California's most famous
railfan spot to life in eastern PA.

Bob's
layout is based on Southern Pacific and Santa Fe Railroads from Los
Angeles to Bakersfield CA in the 1953 to 1954 time period. It is a
point to point layout with reverse loops and major yards at each end of
the track. Scenery includes desert, mountains, and urban areas.
Two Key focal points of the layout are Los Angeles Union Passenger
Terminal (LAUPT) and Tehachapi Loop. The railroad is approximately 85%
complete with 90% of the track work completed. When completed the
layout will consist of 1200 feet of track of which approximately 550
